The board
The board is where your team works day to day: a kanban view of tasks grouped into status columns, with drag-and-drop, swimlanes, and a right-click menu that can edit almost anything without opening the task.
How the board is organised
Columns are your workspace's task statuses, in order. Backlog tasks are kept off the main board and live in a separate Backlog view, so the board only shows work that's actually in play. Alongside Kanban and Backlog there's also a List view of the same tasks.
The main Tasks board shows everything you can see. Each department also has its own board showing just its tasks, with any department-specific statuses as columns. Boards are also available filtered to a client or project from their pages.
Moving tasks
- Drag a card between columns to change its status.
- Drag within a column to reorder tasks manually.
Manual ordering applies when the board's sort is set to Manual. Switch the sort to Priority or Oldest and the columns order themselves instead (drag-to-reorder is off in those modes, though dragging between columns still changes status).
Swimlanes and filters
Group by splits the board into horizontal swimlanes: by Assignee, Department, Client, Project, or Retainer. Lanes collapse individually, so you can focus on one person or client at a time.
Grouping by assignee has a bonus for capacity planning: if your role can see it, each person's lane shows a capacity bar of their current workload against their available hours.
There's also a search box that filters the board as you type.
Task cards
Each card shows the task's title and reference, its status colour, department and label tags, assignee avatars, and a due date that turns red when overdue, plus small indicators for attachments, checklist progress, and linked git branches.
The right-click menu
Right-click any task, on a board card, in a list view, in search results, and you get a context menu that edits the task in place. In order:
- Status: move it to any status.
- Priority: change priority.
- Due Date: quick options for Today, Tomorrow, End of Week, and In One Week, plus Clear Due Date if one is set.
- Assign to me: one click to grab a task (hidden if you're already on it).
- Assignees: add or remove anyone, with a search field.
- Labels and Departments: toggle any on or off with checkmarks.
- Snooze: hide the task until you need it. For 1 hour, Until this afternoon, Until tomorrow, or Until next week. See snoozing for how snoozed tasks behave.
- Open Task: the full task view, in a workspace tab.
- Duplicate: create a copy of the task.
The same menu is available from the ⋯ menu at the top of a task's detail view. It's the fastest way to triage: you can work through a column reprioritising, reassigning, and snoozing without ever leaving the board.
Customising statuses
Admins define the columns under Administration → Task Statuses: each status has a name, a colour, and a category (Backlog, To Do, In Progress, Review, Approved, or Done) that tells Every how to treat it, and statuses can be reordered by dragging. Statuses can be agency-wide or specific to one department, so your design and development teams can run different pipelines.
